ShaftSaverPro is attached to the shaft using high-quality double-sided tape for maximum protection. The current R&A rules do not yet accommodate a product like ShaftSaverPro.

Unless you play on the PGA Tour and your equipment is replaced free of charge by sponsors, allowing your valuable clubs to be worn down for the sake of a theoretical rule is an expensive choice. ShaftSaverPro has no noticeable effect on ball flight or performance. It does just one thing: protect your wallet from unnecessary wear caused by the golf bag. And golf is constantly evolving. For virtually all amateur and club golfers, this is therefore a complete non-issue during play—even in competitions. Nobody deliberately allows their equipment to be damaged. We simply play our rounds and competitions with ShaftSaverPro fitted. We choose common sense and the preservation of our clubs. Our Story
The ShaftSaverPro was born out of a personal problem: wear on a graphite driver shaft caused by friction with the golf bag.
Not a bad shot, not an accident — just everyday preventable wear.
A solution was sought everywhere: online, in golf shops, and from golf pros.
There appeared to be none, except for temporary stopgap measures.
Then ShaftSaverPro was developed: a small 5 cm protective part that sits exactly on the wear spot and absorbs the damage from the bag. The first prototype was presented to an experienced club fitter and golf shop owner.
His reaction: “Brilliant.”
Golf pros said: “Why didn’t I think of that?”

In practice, golfers generally notice no difference. The ShaftSaverPro has undergone an initial blind test with a Trackman featuring a Pro who hits a 270-meter carry. He noticed no difference, and the statistics also showed that it made no difference.

You can, but in practice, it is somewhat inconvenient. It means that after every shot, you have to put that fabric sock back over the club and push it between the shaft and the bag. ShaftSaverPro solves this permanently without requiring any extra actions.
If there are already scratches or noticeable damage on the shaft, the protective clear coat has been compromised. To prevent constant friction from damaging the graphite (carbon) even deeper and permanently weakening the club, you must stop the friction immediately. You can apply ShaftSaverPro directly over the existing damage using the double-sided tape to stop further wear and seal the area.
No, unfortunately, it doesn’t help. Because the clubhead always hangs to one side, gravity causes the shaft to rest continuously on the exact same point against the rim of the bag. While walking the course or riding a trolley, the shaft constantly rubs against this edge. This gradual friction slowly but surely wears down the clear coat, no matter how soft the bag’s rim is.
ShaftSaverPro has no noticeable effect on your swing or ball flight. However, under the R&A’s current interpretation, it does not comply with the rules for official competitions. This is a matter of the rules, not a playing advantage. Officially, it is therefore not allowed.
We play golf for enjoyment and want to protect our expensive clubs. That’s why we expect little discussion at regular club competitions. Golf’s rules also change as the sport evolves: steel shafts were once banned. Rangefinders were initially banned too, but were later allowed after their use had become widespread.
